Guy Laroche Paris Avocado Green, Tangerine, and Yellow Mod Dangle Clip Earrings - image 1 of 5

Guy Laroche is famous for several things but is perhaps best known for re-introducing vivid colors to Paris couture fashion in the late 1950s and throughout the 1960s. These avocado, tangerine, and yellow “mod” style earrings are typical of his early 1960s mix of color and style. The enameled colors, abstract design, and pavé rhinestones are unique and eye-catching. The tops are round, and the dangles have a pointed end egg-shape. Each clip earring measures 1 1/8” wide and 2 ½” long. They are signed Guy Laroche and are in excellent condition.

FYI: Laroche was also known for being one of the more accessible and affable Parisian couturiers which may be why he also designed affordable clothes for the American market. He was one of the first courtiers to sell separates so women could choose a blazer with matching skirt or slacks or both—whichever best fit her lifestyle and still looked fashionable. Laroche’s color combinations, such as those in the earrings shown above, were most indicative of his colorful creations.
