Modernist Brutalist Free Form Sterling Necklace with Jasper and Natural Edged Stone - image 1 of 7

Rustic, modernistic, and brutalist styles all rolled into one! Artist Sallye Mann had a most distinctive style. She combined hand-smithed sterling silver with natural rocks and semi-precious gemstones. Her treatment of sterling was unique. She used striations across the metal and imprinted textures. She oxidized or patinated the indents to add even more texture and to achieve a rustic feel.

The stunning pendant on this Sallye Mann necklace is huge, measuring 2 ¾” high and 3 ½” wide. The sterling toggle closure and sterling beads are also unusual. The ovoid beads are a reddish-brown jasper. The center of the pendant appears to be a slab of natural stone with a natural edge and striations that resemble cave paintings. It measures 18” long and he pendant has the artist’s signature on the back although it is difficult to see due to the many textures. It is in excellent condition.
