She’s a flirt and all gussied up with ruby lips, green eye shadow, and a jaunty green Lucite bow emphasizing her longer-than-Audrey Hepburn neck. Made in the mid 1940s by the Elzac company, this ceramic giraffe brooch will add a fun zany touch to play or work attire. And, when you go to the zoo, you can wear her too! It measures a little over 4” tall and 2 1/4” wide. It has its original paint that is slightly worn around the mouth area but is in otherwise wonderful vintage condition including normal crazing (wouldn't you be a little crazed after 80 years?). A newer (and very well done) “c” clasp has been connected to a piece of clear Lucite on the back replacing the original glued on closure.
Elzac figurals were produced only a short time in California during WWII by a couple who would go on to found the Mattel Toy Company best known for the Barbie Doll and Hot Wheels.
