Two ceramic heads one with eyes closed and the other with blue eyes wide open are combined to form this unusual “twins” pin. It was likely the work of the Elzac company of California. The company operated only a short time during WWII. This piece was probably part of their “Victim of Fashion” series. Each twin has a wisp of blond “hair.” Each is a purple chapeau and cute little fabric bow at the chin. The ceramic heads are mounted on a u-shaped curved piece of wood. They measure 3 1/4” wide and are just under 2” high. Each twin has some condition issues due to age. One has more hair than the other, one the paint on one’s lips is slightly worn away and each ceramic head has some crazing due to the age of the ceramics and its glaze. Buyer should look very closely at the photographs before purchasing.
