Victorian wasp waist mannequins are getting increasingly difficult to find and this lovely ruby red colour makes this characterful model even more unusual! She was made by the best known of all French dress-form manufacturers, Stockman. The brand stencil is still clearly visible on the base of the mannequin buste.
She has size 46 printed on her neck and was made for Madame Garnier in Paris in 1880s -1890s She has remained in the same family ever since. She's been a real 'objet de metier' and bears the battle scars of her time in the couturier's atelier. Old repairs, some rubbed and missing fabric all add to her charm. The wooden finial, neck cap and stand with turnkey are all original. There is evidence of old woodworm so please take a close look. The stand can be dismantled for storage.
The mannequin and stand are what is included in the listing. The lace collar is from my collection and is not for sale.
Whether in a vintage store, your atelier or as a decorative object, this wonderful stylish mannequin will be a talking point.
