This is a very pretty match holder or keep. English in origin, and shaped like an upside down top hat. There is a sweet painting of a
house and garden on the front. The bottom of the hat is the striker. These were used before match books were invented. They held match sticks. Today, they would be perfect for toothpicks. Dates around 1840s.
