A cabinet-ready 20" beautiful and early F8G block letter Francios Gaultier from 1884 to add to your collection. She is wearing the reddish-brown wig that extends below her back, full of curls. She wears a replaced silk dress and hat that fits her perfectly. The dress is a very soft light pink with soft green piping and the same green that covers her buttons. There is an added matching belt at her low hip with added pleats at the lower part of her frock. She wears tied at the waist slip and pantaloons that somewhat show from under her skirt. Her dress closes on one side of the rushing at the center of her dress. She comes with an extra very excellent-made set of very pretty checked white cotton dress and undergarments all embroidered with her FG initials, light green satin shoes, these are for her summer wardrobe if desired. She also comes with her deep pink silk and lace dress with metallic trim at the neckline. The dress has scattered melting.
She retains her original body as seen in the Encyclopedia of French Dolld... and early one made of wood and composition. There has been some obviously old scattered paint, although not much, to the body for no apparent reason as all parts are guaranteed original and stable... probably done when the doll changed hands generations as usual. More unusual, there is some antique hand-painted script on the back of the torso with the word "Gaultier" included. very interesting and a bit of "mystery history". One picture shows how far her wig hangs down beyond her back.....and inside the wig, you can see the antique sticker with the #12 inside. I have never tried to remove her pate.
The bisque is perfect with no damage or repairs. she has a snow pure quality with a gentle blush. there is a very little less blush on one cheek if you look very closely. her chin has the noticeable dimples that FG's are noted for. Her lustrous eyes are stunning blue and perfectly placed. She has the prominent tip of the tongue to fill out her colorful lips, the brows are perfectly stroked and feathered. She has many thickly, perfectly painted eyelashes. The brows and lashes match her wig color.
She is priced as you might expect for a scroll mark FG of this quality. The earlier Block Letter such as this is more desirable.
She will be packed very well in her travel to you. I have traveled to many shows for competition and occasionally as a seller, very knowledgeable on how one must pack antique dolls or toys for secure arrival. Thank you for shopping here on Ruby Lane.
