An original antique french doll or bebe couturier dress with coat and hat and in very good condition, the rarest of the rare. Do not confuse this with the dresses which have been recently made from old fabrics. This was made in France in the 1885 to 1890 era for a very top of the line doll. I have had this set in my personal collection for many years, but I don't currently have the doll for it and have decided to let it go. It is modeled by a 16 inch Jumeau and a 17 inch FG bebe. The dress is made of a heavy maroon silk satin with beautiful lace overlay. It is beautifully made and fully lined. There are a some small holes, mostly in the lace and some wear at the edges and bottom, but overall in great and very sturdy condition for it's age. The straw hat has the typical nibbles to the edges and some wear to the nap of the velvet and the velvet cloak has some mothing to the wool lining, but the silk velvet is in very good condition. It measures 10.5 inches long and 5.5 inches across the front of the dropped waist. This dress is too snug in the waist on my 17 inch early portrait Jumeau who is very chunky, but it will work on a slightly later Jumeau body, such as an EJ, incised or Tete, or another slimmer doll such as a Schmitt, Gaultier or Steiner or a beautiful german Simon and Halbig. It would be perfect for a very high end doll such as a Thuillier child or Halopeau. You will never find another genuine antique original couture outfit such as this and in this condition, don't miss it. I have more pictures, let me know if you would like more information or additional photos.
