Jullien was one of the smaller Paris firms that began making bebes in 1875. His dolls were made in smaller production and, thus, are hard to find. This doll is a lovely example of his addition in 1893 of dolls with teeth. The teeth are square-cut and delicate. Her head is pressed bisque with her original cork pate. The head has been lighted and is without any damage or restoration. She is 18.5 inches tall with a sturdy French body with straight wrists. It appears to have an old repaint. Her bisque head is perfect, and her mold is unique to Jullien. Her painting is delicate, with feathered brows and outlined lips. The side view pictures show her large, impressive, paperweight blue eyes. Her wig is mohair. We have costumed her in a beautiful antique French dress of cream and red, which we found in Paris. It has antique fasteners and most of the dress is hand-sewn. She wears multiple slips and a unique maroon velvet hat by a Ukrainian artist. Her shoes are antique French leather, with large silver buckles.

The first two pictures were taken in natural light in an attempt to show the tru color of her blonde wig. It is a soft light blonde not the harsher color that the subsequent pictures suggest.

As the pictures show, she has a happy, lively presence with much character. She would make an important addition to your collection of all the French dollmakers of bebes.
