Contents: First published in a limited edition of 750 copies in 1938, this copy was re-published in 1970 to bring it a wider audience. It contains 1,500 marks that American silversmiths put on their creations from 1690 to 1840. The marks are listed in alphabetical order by maker and contain a brief biography of the maker as well as a drawing and explanation of the maker's mark.
This book also contains notes on the silver used and different spoon types as well as a list of New York City silversmiths from 1815 to 1841.
