Beautiful 2 part walnut chest on stand circa 1700.
Top section with pull cushion drawer directly under the top cornice, burr double doors open to reveal a fully fitted interior. Central tabernacle with 3 enclosed drawers flanked either side by 5 drawers with 1 below and storage space. Above the tabernacle are 3 pull out pigeon holes, the right hand one allowing access to a secret compartment.
In the bottom a single drawer provides a writing surface, pushing this back allows further storage. Standing on 5 turned and shaped legs united by stretcher.
Expected restorations for a piece now over 300 years old. Age splits to doors which have been restored, and slight shrinkage to doors which makes locking sometimes tricky. Later legs which were a 19th century restoration.
Stunning color and patina.
