A small lidded Bowl by Daum of Nancy, France.
Crafted in red/orange cameo glass and with a domed, solid silver lid.
The design in the glass features flowers (probably stylized water lilies and leaves with a complementary raised design in the silver lid.
The highlights on the raised glass are gilded.
The bowl is signed on the base (Daum, Nancy, Cross of Lorraine) in Gilt, suggesting a manufacture date pre 1900, i.e. 1890's. The silver lid bears a Minerva mark, indicating solid silver made in France and has a gilded interior.
It measures circa 3 inches (8 cm) maximum diameter and 2 inches (5 cm) high.
Condition is especially fine with no chips or restoration, the only sign of usage over its long life being some fine scratches and tiny nibbles on the underside which also has internal striations as part of the original manufacture. The gilded signature has negligible rubbing, a further indication of the bowl's superlative condition.
This is a very rare and desirable object which should have great appeal to Collectors of French Art Glass.
