1800s tintype photograph of Kansas family of the past
Tintypes were a popular form of photography starting in the 1850's
This one is a family portrait completely original, no modifications in any way with normal aging to the frame
I have determined this as tintype by the magnetic method, if a magnet sticks to it, it's a tintype
This is a very large tintype, larger than normally made, this family spent quite a bit of money for a tintype of this size, and to have framed.
This is a large oval frame 14" x 12" with tintype mounted in the center.
The tintype itself measures approximately 8" x 7"
Please look closely at photos for details, and study closely
