An excellent orientalist porcelain night light (veilleuse), modeled and signed by Ernest Gazan and made by the very well known firm of Edmond Etling (early 20th c). The cover is surmounted by a kneeling girl in a yellow and black striped turban. She sits on a plush floor cushion with black tassels hanging from each corner, creating a striking contrast against the bright yellow base. The girl holds a bouquet of flowers which are pierced to allow slender rays of light to pass through. Her pupils are also pierced, which brings her to life when lit! Signed Gazan and Editions Etling, Paris and marked with initials SEGB.

The vintage nightlight is made from a particularly fine and translucent porcelain, which allows the light to shine through and bring life to the piece. The colors become brighter and more vibrant when the light is on (particularly her pants which become an amazing powder blue, as well as her turban - the light comes through on the yellow stripes and creates a wonderful contrast against the black stripes). Both the flowers and her eyes are pierced, which allows light to pass through and animate her face.

Condition: Excellent, original condition! Includes the original lamp mount, (the unsafe wire was cut long ago). The piece may be easily rewired but it also displays beautifully as a sculpture.

Measurements: 6 in high x 4 in wide x 4.5 in deep 15.5 cm high x 10 cm wide x 11.5 cm deep
