A beautiful antique 19th century Russian silver Jewish spice tower. The piece is modeled as a tower culminating in a spherical body and rotating flag. Finely hand made with scrolling filigree, which allows the aroma of the spices placed inside to fill the air. Filled with sweet spices, spice towers ("Besamim") have traditionally been used during holidays and to end the Sabbath on a sweet note. Marked on both base and lid with the Russian silver standard mark 84 (signifying 875/1000 silver purity) and maker's mark - view last photo for marks. Will make a wonderful addition to any Judaica collection or a spectacular gift!
Condition: In good original condition with no damages or repairs. The silver has been left unpolished, with the original patina.
Measurements: 6 in high x 2 1/4 in wide (15 cm x 5 3/4 cm). Weighs 134.2 grams.
