This listing is for a gorgeous Loetz CANDIA SILBERIRIS Art Glass petite or miniature cabinet vase from the Art Nouveau Period, c. 1885-1900. This stunning vase has a rich blue-green silvered iridescent finish over a pale topaz glass body and is overlaid with a Sterling Silver Art Nouveau floral design. The silver overlaid design features three individual flowers set within a diamond shaped medallion connected within a band around the center of the vase. The top is deeply ruffled with a dimple in the glass at the bottom of each ruffle. The upper rim is also banded with Sterling Silver. Although this lovely vase is unsigned, we do guaranteed it to be authentic and as represented.
Some Loetz vases with applied silver decoration were executed in Europe but the majority originated in America with the silver work applied by American Silver Companies to vases acquired directly from the Loetz factory. Only the highest grade silver is malleable enough to be worked on glass making these silver overlaid vases very desirable with any Loetz petite vase being especially rare.
Dimensions: 3 1/2" high with a top diameter of 2 3/8" (at widest) and the base diameter of 1 3/8".
Condition: Vase is in excellent Estate condition with no chips, cracks or other noted flaws. There are a couple of tiny no-harm dimples in the glass from production which is very common on these pieces.
