This listing is for a SCARCE Mt. Washington RAINBOW satin glass vase with Coralene decoration, c. 1900. This lovely vase has a satin finish with alternating emerald and rose rainbow coloration with an all-over decoration of tiny golden opalescent glass beads in a seaweed pattern. This is an unusually large size in this scarce type art glass. Photos of Coralene Art Glass can be found on pages 58 and 100 of the reference book "The Collector's Encyclopedia of American Art Glass, Second Edition" by John A. Shuman III. Satin glass from this period is always unmarked, however, coralene art glass was made by the Mt. Washington Glass Company of New Bedford MA. Mt. Washington glass is considered to be America's premier Victorian Art Glass. Quality art glass from this company was made during the 1880's into the early 1900's.
Dimensions: 9 1/4" high with a 2 3/4" diameter top, an overall width of 6" and a base diameter of 3 3/4". Weighs just under 2 pounds.
Condition: This scarce vase is in excellent Estate condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Coralene beading is in very good to excellent condition with only a few very insignificant missing beads in the seaweed design.
