This listing is for a cute novelty miniature Vienna Bronze bear rug marked with the Franz Bergman trademark stamp ("B" within a double handled vase) and also marked "Austria". Bergman used a cold painted technique where a cast bronze was decorated in several layers of polychrome (dust paint) that were left unfired thus they are called "cold" painted. The knowledge for mixing the paint to achieve this technique has been lost over time. Bergman is one of the most famous of the Viennese cold painted bronze artists and is known especially for his miniature animal figures which are often whimsically depicted.
Dimensions: 3 7/8" long and 2 3/4" wide. Weighs 2.2 ounces.
Condition: This nice miniature bronze bear rug is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting only minor signs of normal wear. There is a tiny rubbed spot on the top of his head that is really not a problem but mentioned for accuracy.
