This listing is for an elegant and rare Steuben engraved Rock Crystal style ladies cuspidor (spittoon), c. early 1900's. The cuspidor has an undulated edge and six applied curled "handles" around the body of the glass. In between each handle is an elegant pattern engraved in a Rock Crystal style with stylized flowers and tiny bullseyes with a band of fine miter cuts in the center. The wavy top edge is almost 2 1/2" wide with six stylized flowers separating a connecting band of vertical cuts. This cuspidor is pictured on page 133, figure 147 of the book "American Cut & Engraved Glass" by Martha Louise Swan.
Dimensions: 5 5/8" high and 8 3/4" in diameter (at top). Weighs just under 3 pounds.
Condition: This rare ladies cuspidor is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting only minor signs of wear with a few surface scratches on the bottom and a rubbed circular edge around the edge of base from normal wear.
