This listing is for an early 19th Century Chinese Export tea caddy with gilt Chinoiserie decoration embellished with mother-of-pearl. The box is elaborately painted with people, landscape scenes and buildings on the top, front and both side panels. The box is complete with two foil lined interior sections each fitted with a black lacquer cover with mother-of-pearl button type handle. Box sits on four round flattened ball feet. The hinges are tight and box opens and closes correctly. Box also has a lock mechanism in place, however, we do not have the original key.
Dimensions: 4 3/4" high, 7 3/4" long and 4 5/8" wide. Weighs 1.14 pounds.
Condition: This box is in exceptional Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting minimal signs of normal wear. There is minor crazing in the lacquer finish on the back of the box mentioned only for accuracy.
