This listing is for a stunning example of 19th Century American Sterling Silver tazza/compote made by Black, Starr & Frost of New York. This elaborate Sterling Silver compote has a beautiful reticulated floral border around the outside edge and around the lower edge of the base. There is a lovely 2-letter monogram "R T" in center. The compote is marked with the trademark stamp of Black, Starr & Frost and also "Black, Starr & Frost, New York" and "Sterling, 3955X, 7 1/2". The Black, Starr & Frost Company was formed in 1874 and continued to use this name until 1929. They produced silver products for many of America's most prominent families during this period and their pieces are of the highest quality.
Dimensions: 3 1/2" high and is 7 1/2" in diameter. Weighs 310 grams. The piece is solid silver and is not weighted in any area.
Condition: This fabulous silver compote is in outstanding Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting only minimal signs of normal wear.
