This adorable Mid-Century cast bronze sculpture of an Australian Cuscus animal was made by Marian Weinberg, c. 1959-1969.
The animal is often identified as a baby opossum but is actually that of an Australian marsupial Cuscus. The sculpture has nice details and beautiful patina. It has been hand cast in the "cold cast" process by New York artist Marian Weinberg who passed away in January of 2017 at the age of 97 so her work is limited and should continue to increase in value. Signed on back of base with signature "Marian Weinberg" with copyright trademark.
Dimensions: 7" high, 6 1/2" wide and 3 1/2" deep. Weighs 7.2 pounds.
Condition: Bronze is in excellent Estate condition with great original patina and no noted flaws or defects. There is one small round no-harm dark spot over the figure's right eye and several other faint dark specks in the patina with very minor signs of normal wear. Please view all photos as part of description and condition.
