A gorgeous 19th Century French bronze bust of Athena sitting above a Sevres porcelain enamel and gilt decorated column with hooks to use as a ring or pocket watch holder. The white porcelain column sits on a square burgundy colored porcelain platform with both being hand enameled and gilt decorated. Mounted above the column is a nicely detailed bronze bust of Athena (Greek goddess of war) wearing a large helmet on her head with a bronze platform below that holds three hooks for holding rings, pocket watch, etc. The porcelain base is signed with the Sevres trademark stamp that dates the piece to the late 18th or early part of the 19th Century as it has all the features of the French Grand Tour Palais Royal period.
Dimensions: 5 1/2" high with the base measuring 2 3/4" square. Weighs 12 ounce.
Condition: This lovely ring/watch holder is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no major damage or repairs. The bronze has wonderful original patina and the enamel and gilded areas are great. There is one small flake on the front corner of the base that could easily be touched up and be totally unnoticed otherwise this stunning piece reflects only minimal signs of normal wear.
