These novelty items were originally made for traveling nobility and wealthy individuals as a souvenir of their GRAND TOUR travels. Most were luxury items for the vanity and these items were sold in the specialty stores of the shopping arcade that flanked the Promenade of the garden center of RICHELIEU'S Old Paris palace that has been known for centuries as THE PALAIS ROYAL. You can still walk this promenade when in Paris today.
Dimensions: 6 1/2" high, the M-O-P sides measure 5" overall width and 3" deep. Weighs 2 pounds.
Condition: The mother-of-pearl section is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. Although the bottles appear to original and fit into the stand correctly, they really need to be replaced as each is missing its original top and inner stopper, and two are chipped at top (see photos). There are some minor no-harm surface scratches in the alabaster around the outer edge.
