This listing is for a nice Art Deco English Sterling Silver 4-lily or 4-trumpet epergne by Robert Pringle & Sons of Chester, England, c. 1922. The epergne features long slender trumpets with paneled bodies and wide scalloped edge tops. Attached to the center trumpet are three ornate curving extensions with open cone holders that extend the paneled design of the single trumpets when they are inserted. Base is stamped with English hallmarks for Chester, Sterling, date letter for 1922 and maker's stamp for Robert Pringle & Sons.
Dimensions: 10" high, center trumpet is 3 3/4" in diameter, the individual trumpets measure 2 3/8" in diameter and the base is 3" in diameter. Weighs 415 grams (base is weighted for stability).
Condition: This lovely epergne has a nice appearance with only a few minor flaws. There is one faint dent (out of round) on the edge of the base and the center trumpet or vase section has a small dent in the lower section that causes it to stand slightly off-center. The paneled edges of the trumpets have some minor dents/dings from normal wear. If you could have the center trumpet straightened slightly, you would not even notice the other minor flaws.
