This listing is for a lovely Tiffany FAVRILE gold iridescent Art Glass deep bowl, c. 1900. This bowl has a rich golden Favrile interior and a beautiful iridescent coloration on the exterior with blue highlights on the rim and blue highlights in a translucent ribbed pattern with the gold interior appearing to glow between the ribs around the lower sides. Unmarked, however, we are certain that this bowl is a Tiffany production. "Favrile" glass was patented by Louis Comfort Tiffany in 1894 and along with Frederick Carder's "Aurene" glass made for Steuben, this glass set the highest standard for iridescent glass at the turn of the 20th century.
Dimensions: 2 1/4" high, 6 1/8" in diameter (at top) and 3 1/4" in diameter (at base). Weighs 10.6 ounces.
Condition: This nice bowl is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no major flaws and reflecting only minor signs of normal wear. There are a few faint nicks/rubs in the iridescent color on the flat interior bottom and a couple of faint scratches around the mid-body area on the exterior. This is a colorful bowl and the minor flaws detract little from the beauty of the piece.
