This listing is for a gorgeous Kirk Sterling Silver REPOUSSE footed salver/tray, #907. This nice tray is decorated with a hand chased floral border and engraved design on flat tray portion with fancy monogram "B" in the center of an engraved wreath medallion. The tray sits on three "hairy" claw and ball feet and has great original patina. Marked "S. Kirk & Son, 925/1000, 907". This Kirk mark was used from 1896-1924. The iconic "Repousse" pattern by S. Kirk & Son made its debut in 1828 making it the oldest Sterling Silver pattern produced in the United States where its remained to this day as one of the most popular patterns ever created. To create this pattern, the Philadelphia trained silversmith Samuel Kirk revived an ancient technique known as "repousse" to create an embossed design that is both versatile and instantly recognized.
