19th Century French bronze pin tray with hand painted Sevres porcelain insert, c. 1880. Porcelain tray is decorated with scene of children carrying baskets and gathering fruit on a burgundy background. Although the painting is unsigned, the painting has fine details and the children are adorable. The tray has all the characteristics of Sevres porcelain and could possibly be signed on the back under the bronze protective plate. The bronze surround has an engraved design with stylized shells at the four top corners and tray sits on four block feet.
Dimensions: 6 3/4" long (at feet), 3" wide (at feet) and long and almost 1 1/4" high (at corners). Weighs 14 ounces.
Condition: Broth the bronze and the porcelain are in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws reflecting only minimal signs of normal wear commensurate with age. Bronze has naturally aged original patina.
