This listing is for a beautiful 19th Century KPM porcelain double open salt cellar with Cherub figure. This unusual salt cellar features a white porcelain Cherub standing between two decorative basket shaped open containers. The exterior of each salt is painted in a basket weave design in soft blue enamel with the baskets sitting above four feet in a wide wave/scroll design also highlighted in blue enamel. The interior of each basket has a floral decoration with the scalloped upper edge having a blue painted rim. The base is marked with incised "4" along with the KPM orb trademark stamp. The mark is slightly blurred but definitely the mark is correct for KPM porcelain and dates the piece prior to 1880.
Dimensions: 4 7/8" high, 5" wide and 4 1/4" deep. Weighs 10.4 ounces.
Condition: This lovely double salt is in excellent Estate condition with no cracks or repairs. There are several paint flakes and a couple of tiny nicks on the blue upper edge of the baskets reflecting minimal signs of normal wear.
