This listing is for an adorable papier mache pug puppy candy container, c. 1910-1930. The puppy is in a sitting position and has a removable head (for inserting candy). He has a cute expression on his face and has painted facial features and early plastic eyes. These candy containers were popular in the early 20th Century, however, rabbits are the most readily found and dogs and cats are much harder to find.
Dimensions: 5 1/2" high, 6 1/2" long and 3 1/2" wide. Weighs 8 ounces.
Condition: This unusual candy container is in good Estate condition although it does have a few minor flaws. There is a thin crack around the left front leg (facing) with a chip on the foot of this same leg. Above the crack on this leg are several chips and there are some minor paint flakes around the body as expected from normal handling. The head fits nicely into the neck area and the head is in excellent condition with no noted flaws.
