This nice Victorian Period Carte de Viste photograph album from the 1880's belonged to a lady from Great Bend PA. The cover is embossed leather with gilt tooled decoration and a milk glass cabochon "button" at each corner of the design on both front and back. The page edges are gilt embossed with floral design which is exposed when album is closed. The covers latch in the front with two brass hinged clasps that are also decorated with milk glass buttons. There are slots for 44 photos and many Carte de Viste photo cards are included along with a couple of tin types. I've left the slips of paper with the identifying names inside as found.
Dimensions: 6 1/8" long, 5 3/8" wide and 2" deep.
Condition: Overall condition is very good to excellent. The spine is good and the leather covers are good although they do have expected signs of wear on corners and edges. There are no splits in the leather cover. The interior photo cover pages reflect the minor wear with several pages having small tears at the frame corners and one page has the bottom of the paper frame torn off. There is one stain on the top edge when pages are closed. Some of the milk glass cabochon buttons have collected grime with age and we have left them "as found".
