This listing is for a lovely Herend porcelain hand painted mocha coffee pot with 24 K gold trim and hand applied pink rose knob finial in the ROTHSCHILD BIRD pattern. The white porcelain body is beautifully decorated with colorful birds with butterflies and other insects with a molded basket weave textured band around top of pot and lower portion of lid. The lid is further embellished with hand applied pink porcelain rose finial with branch shaped stem enameled in green.
Dimensions: 6" high, 5" wide (spout to handle) with a 1 3/4" diameter base. Weighs 8 ounces.
Condition: This lovely coffee pot is in excellent Estate condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
History: The Rothschild Bird pattern was created in 1860 for the Rothschild family of Europe and is considered by porcelain lovers to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain The pattern consists of 12 different bird motifs portraying a 19th Century tale about Baroness Rothschild. The story goes that she lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence. After several days, the necklace was found by her gardener who saw birds playing with it in a tree.
