This listing is for a stunning and unusual Amberina Art Glass enamel decorated footed vase with applied rigaree accents. The vase has a swirled ribbed body shading from a rich ruby color at the top to amber at the bottom, a coloration that gives this glass its name. There is an applied crimped amber glass rigaree band around the upper edge and the vase sits on five nicely shaped feet. Although Amberina Art Glass is generally found unpainted, this lovely vase has been decorated with gilt decoration that includes a bird in flight and a cobalt blue flower with "jewels".
Dimensions: 8" high and 5" wide at top.
Condition: Vase is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws.
Amberina was developed in the late 1880's by the New England Glass Company. Variations of this glass was made by Hobbs, Brockunier & Co. although their version was made of pressed glass and a plated version was made by the Mt. Washington Glass Works which named their creation "Rose Amber".
