This listing is for an adorable French porcelain sitting pug figurine made by Jacob Petit (1796-1868). This pug figurine wearing a collar with large gold bells around his neck and a large bow was a popular design during the last half of the 19th Century. Figure is hand enameled in tones of rusty-brown with white paws and white neck with brown and black on face and ears. This figurine has lots of personality! Marked with the correct Jacob Petit mark on base.
Dimensions: 5 1/2" high with base measuring 4 3/4" long and 3" wide. Weighs just over 1 pound.
Condition: Figurine appears to be in very good Estate condition, however, upon closer inspection you will notice that one or two of the gold bells around his neck have been repaired and there is restoration to the blue bow on the back of his neck. There is also rubbing to the paint on his eyes and muzzle. There is a small no-harm crack on the base from production and some tiny nicks around the edge of the base from normal wear and handling. Without the flaws mentioned above, this would be a thousand dollar figurine.
