This listing is for a wonderful antique MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912) Japanese SATSUMA porcelain enameled flat sided teapot with gold trim. These MEIJI PERIOD Satsuma pieces are painted with polychrome enamels embellished with gold. This teapot has an elaborate pictorial family scene with landscape on both front and back with bright coloration in the design with detailed gilt accents on handle and spout. The lid has a small Foo Dog finial on top.
Dimensions: 9 1/2" high, 8 1/2" long and 2 1/2" wide. Weighs 2.5 pounds.
Condition: The teapot is in excellent Estate condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The enameling and gilding are also in excellent condition with only minor crazing as is normal on Satsuma Pottery.
