This listing is for a gorgeous late 19th or early 20th Century French Sterling Silver sauce or gravy boat with attached tray. The gravy boat has a pouring area at each end and has a handle at the center of each side. It has a curved upper edge, an oval pedestal base, an embossed swag surrounding the entire body and three flowers around each handle. Both the gravy boat and tray have a beautiful engraved border on the exterior just below the top rim and around the edge of the scalloped edge of the tray with small embossed flowers at the lower curve of each scallop. The silver is marked with French hallmarks in several places on both the gravy boat and the tray. The hallmarks are so small that all but the Sterling mark is difficult to identify. This piece has so many fine details that it was most certainly made by one of the best French silversmiths working at the turn of the 20th Century. I'm sure the maker's mark is present, but again, we were unable to identify maker. This lovely gravy boat/tray was purchased from a very nice GA Estate.
Dimensions: Sauce boat on tray measures 3 1/2" high, 8 3/4" long and 4 1/4" wide (not including handles). Oval tray measures 10" long and 6 1/4" wide. Weighs 650 grams.
Condition: The silver is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting minimal signs of normal wear.
