This nice William Moorcroft Art Pottery 6.25" vase is decorated in the hard-to-find Pomegranate pattern with five pomegranates and berries encircling the center of the vase. The vase has a rich cobalt blue background contrasting with five hand painted vibrant pomegranates with berries in shades of blue and cherry with green foliage surrounding each pomegranate. Base marked "MOORCROFT" and is also incised "MADE IN ENGLAND". The incised stamp "POTTER TO H.M. THE QUEEN" is faintly seen below the dark blue wash of the other mark. This mark was used from 1928-1949.
Dimensions: 6 1/4" high with a top diameter of 3 1/8", maximum width of 5 1/2" and base diameter of 3 1/4". Weighs 1.10 pounds.
Condition: Vase is in excellent Estate condition with no crazing, chips, cracks or repairs. There is some very faint no-harm rubbing in the glaze above the foot rim. Nothing really, just mentioned for accuracy. There is also some mottling of color on inside rim.
This is a lovely example of the Pomegranate pattern which is one of the harder-to-find patterns. This vase will certainly become a favorite of any Moorcroft Art Pottery Collection!
