This exquisite young lady is by the famous art deco artist, Erté. Titled “Ecstasy”, she appears to be gliding across the dance floor in her lovely blue gown, with gold belt, collar, and braid in her hair. She is a beautiful gilded, cold painted cast bronze sculpture. Numbered 299 in a series of 500, she is signed, dated 1989, and with the Seven Arts Ltd., London stamp. This wonderful sculpture is mounted on a sculpted black granite base.
The artist and designer, Erté (Romain de Tirtoff, Russian/French, 1892-1990), is known as the father of art deco. His work can be found in several well-known museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This is an amazing opportunity to own a great piece of art.
Dimensions: 20" tall by 11-3/4” across by 9" deep, and weighs approximately 24 pounds. In overall great vintage condition, with no chips to the base, scratches, or signs of repairs. There is one small triangular spot of discoloration on the back of the belt (see photos), but this does not detract from the overall beauty of this exquisite bronze sculpture.
