A great example of what Unger Brothers are famous for, these sterling silver lorgnettes feature beautiful roses with leaves and stems intertwined on the handle. They have great patina that has been built up over the years. These can be worn as a pendant or they look great on a desk, a discreet way of having reading lenses handy. Of course you could get your prescription for these.
The lorgnettes are hallmarked on the inside, with the Unger Brothers maker's mark of an intertwined "U" and “B,” surrounded by the words “Sterling 925 fine.” These lorgnettes have not been polished and are in the condition in which they were found. The mechanism works great, the lenses are intact, but there are some scratches to the lenses consistent with age and use. Overall, in very good antique condition, with no dents or signs of repair (please see photos).
Dimensions: approximately 5” by 7/8” wide by 1/2” thick. The glasses portion extends out approximately 4-1/4” and are about 1-1/8” high. The pendant weighs approximately 41.5 grams.
