We are proud to offer this beautiful necklace and pendant by renown Taxco artist Antonio Pineda. This is a classic Pineda design from the 50’s. The necklace is comprised of 5/8” cylindrical sections linked by solid silver chain. From the chain hangs a four-pronged lobed pendant featuring an oval faceted citrine of approximately 36 carats.
This is a rare Pineda example, executed in 970 silver. We have never seen another example of his work with a citrine. This may have been specifically commissioned by someone, as most of his work features either moon stone or amethyst. Citrine is the November birthstone!
Please note that the pendant can slide along the chain, but cannot be removed from the chain. The heavy clasp is stamped “TAXCO,” crown with “ANTONIO” & “TAXCO,” eagle with “208,” and 970.
This necklace is in excellent vintage condition with no chips to the stone or signs of repairs or alterations. Slight wear consistent with age and use (see photos).
Dimensions: The citrine measures approximately 19 x 24 mm (36 carats by formula). The pendant measures approximately 15/16” by 1-1/16” and the chain is approximately 21- inches in length. It weighs approximately 54 grams.
