A visually stunning 19th century hand carved natural coral brooch with a theme of bell topped flowers and leaves.
Probably the most beautiful, elegant, coral brooch I have ever seen or had the pleasure to own. The workmanship is outstanding.
The brooch has an arched base metal frame from which the coral leaves and flowers are individually suspended via hanging pins. This gives a graduated effect, creating different rows. The flower heads are all beautifully carved into bells.
The brooch has a solid gold pin to the back (no marks but tested minimum 9ct by jeweller purchased from) and curves into the same arched shape as the brooch frame. 'C' clasp in good order.
In very good antique condition; amazing something so beautifully delicate has survived this well; a small number of bell tops are missing a small triangular part from their bases. Photos give good clear detail.
Measurements: 2.25" wide at top, 1.5" drop length to centre.
Please be sure to view all the photographs provided.
An incredible piece that should be handled with care due to age and fragility, in order to preserve the wonderful condition it is in.
