A gorgeous antique Victorian 9K Carat Gold Back & Front locket pendant, c1880.

Features a beautiful painted portrait of a dog on black enamel.

The case has 9ct gold panels front and back, on a base metal frame for strength. Many lockets of the era were structured in this way.

The back gold panel has been beautifully hand chased and features a vacant cartouche.

Opens to reveal some vintage photos; the left one is a framed gent under glass, the right side photo of a baby is loose in the case.

The case closes securely.

Measurements: 39mm by 25mm (including jump ring).

Weight: 8.64gms.

In good antique condition; the black enamel background has some heavy surface wear but no loss to the painting/enamel. Also, there are 2 splits in the gold back, which are safe and not too noticeable. One is very fine above the cartouche and the other is to lower right side (see last photo). Some dark tarnish to base metal base (see photos). Left uncleaned as preferred by most collectors.
