A fabulous antique English mourning ring; a very striking piece in wear.
Fully hallmarked for 9 carat gold, Chester assayed, with date letter 'P' for 1915. The makers mark is a little rubbed.
Stunning navette shaped black enamel front, with 4 inlaid seed pearls; all beautifully outlined in gold. The shoulders have the word MEMORY spelled out between them, in gold lettering.
The back half of the shank has cut out sections which once held human hair (this had been removed prior to my purchase of the ring). Perhaps an opportunity to insert your own plaited hair or a small piece of precious material (empty back rectangular section is 8mm by 4mm).
In good antique condition; there has been some restoration to the black enamel navette, only visible under close scrutiny.
Approx ring size: UK R / US 8.75
Please do view all the 9 photographs carefully to benefit from clear detail of the ring and its condition.
