A beautiful Victorian, double sided,15ct gilt yellow gold mourning locket brooch.
The brooch frame has that beautiful bloomed 15ct yellow colour but is unmarked and untested so is being sold as gilt metal.
One of the earliest pieces in my collection, could not bear to part with this for many years, a very fine example.....
The brooch has a central locket compartment, containing a Prince of Wales feathers hair display, consisting of entwined grey and brown hair curls, set with 4 seed pearls and gold wiring; I believe this piece features the hair of two loved ones, entwined for infinity.....beautiful!!
The reverse side holds a period photograph of the gent in the story; covered with the original glass.
Tube hinge, pin and 'c' catch, in good working order.
Measurements: 1 7/8" by 1 6/8".
In good antique condition; please view all the photographs for clear detail of item on offer and its condition.
