A lovely vintage 1940's Iraqi silver & niello panel bracelet.
The workmanship/style is indicative of that of the Mandean silversmiths (marsh Arabs) in Southern Iraq. Their jewellery found its way through to Europe via British Service Personnel stationed in Iraq between the 1920's and 1940's.
There are no visible marks but the bracelets tests as 800 grade silver, again typical of these pieces.
There is an engraved name of a lady inside, Lily Bateman, presumably the sweetheart of a British Officer who brought it back.
Built in tubular fastener to end links.
Measurements: 6.75" in length, 0.8" wide.
In good vintage condition; small corner split next to punched top hole of panel on one link (see main photo); silver left uncleaned.
