A fabulous Victorian estate mourning locket swivel brooch.
A very fine pinchbeck/gilt metal frame houses a central locket compartment that swivels on a pin, so that either side may be worn to the front.
The locket contains an ambrotype of a 19th century gent, with some light tinting to his cheeks. Protected by the original glass.
The others side contains a dark brown woven material and again has its original glass.
Particularly appealing about this swivel piece is the elaborate inner pinchbeck frame; normally these are plain and unpatterned! This is a piece of some quality.
The tube hinge, pin and 'c' catch are in good working order. There is also a pendant loop to the top.
Measurements: 2.25" by 1.75".
In good antique condition; some minor surface wear to glass commensurate with age.
