Old papier Mache" head boy doll. This one I date from the 1930's or 1940's when foreign national dolls were very much in demand. I remember this as they were still being collected in the 1950's when I was a child. wheat gets me is the condition of the doll is absolutely great. The had is totally perfect with no cracks or peeling paint. the only thing is the holes from the pins holding on the original cap. This pinning on pieces of clothing was very common when these dolls were made. The clothing has never been removed and is still in remarkable condition, granted a little faded with age. there seems to be some bead work missing on the left side (dolls left side) of the blue felt vest, but I am just not sure. The body is solid, well stuffed, and very clean for it's age. From the style I would guess it to be Greek and I have tried to include pictures of every aspect of the garments as well as the body construction. Most notable to me are those wonderful shoes which are original and made of leather. The total doll stands 10" tall and is jointed at the hips and shoulders only: the head is stationary on the body. This is for the doll only: the stand is not included.
