This is a child's coat(?), or maybe a wrap used on a baby (?), or maybe even a dress (???); I just simply cannot tell. It is obviously from the 1930's period and good sized for what it is. It is a full 19" long from the top of the neck to the bottom of the hem and 8" across, shoulder to shoulder, where the sleeves start from. The sleeves are almost 12" long and 7 1/2" from the cuff to the top under the arm. It is a nice old rayon (I am pretty sure) with an almost silky feel to it and the top, as you can see from the pictures, has wonderful rushing all around the neck coming down about 2" on the fabric. There are 4 buttons on each side so you can fasten it making 8 buttons in all. The inside has a tiny label that says "Natalie, Washington D.C." at the back of the neck. There are a couple of spots on the lower hem on the right side but other than that (and it needs a good cleaning) there are no tears, shredded fabric, rips, nor ant threads coming undone that I can see. Even better than that, should you wish to use it, the hem is 5 1/4" wide and could extend the coat almost that much farther down since it is actually hand stitched up inside.
For you Doll Collectors, this would make a wonderful garment for that perfect LARGE composition doll you've been looking to dress as it is of the period. Please ask me any questions you might have!
