Nice old baby dolls cap; or maybe this even might have been big enough for a baby. From the style, I believe it to be 1940's, but it might be from the 1930's. I base that on a photo of my older sister who seemed to be wearing one like this as a baby, and she was born in 1940. It is of a fine cream knitted material and might even be of knitted wool. With that said, IF you are the lucky buyer and wish to wash it carefully, I would do so in a hand wash with COLD water, just to be on the safe side.
The cap ties under the chin with 2 nice original buttons and two knitted button holes for the other side. There are 2 small holed on the right side of the hat which I have tried my best to photograph for you. The cap is almost 5" from the back to the front (laid out flat), and 6 1/4" bottom to the top. The chin part with the buttons comes out about 1 1/2" from the cap when buttoned. The opening, side to side, seems to be about 5" when opened and laid out flat. This would be a wonderful cap for a composition baby doll and a great addition to any collection. Email me with any questions you might have.
