This is a rare HUGH exquisite set of 12 antique, 1871, Victorian Damask lapkins / napkins in white with provenance. These are true lapkins measuring 36" x 29-1/2". This set was part of an estate having a large lot of antique Victorian linens. I have attached a copy of the hand written note that was found with this set and others that had the same monogram "L W.18". Note, in photo #6, that the paper attached references a date of 1871. These 12 lapkins have a lovely floral design with flowers in the center. The monogram in the corner of each lapin measures 7/8" long. Each lapkin has a hand hemmed rolled edge on two sides. This size lapkin would have been clipped to the front of the lady's gowns and draped to protect their clothing. The men would have draped these over their laps. These are in lovely never used condition. Please read condition below and look at all of the photos as they are an important part of the description.
CONDITION: Lapkins have never been used and stored away for over 100 years. There are no holes to any, however, there are some with storage stains and spots on several consistent with age. These have been gently hand laundered, air dried and ironed with no starch. This is a first wash to these. Pretty and very clean. No odor and from a smoke-free environment.
MEASUREMENTS: 29-1/2" x 36"
